Kapittel always presents a strong English language program.

Kapittel is a non-commercial literary festival organized in conjunction with the Stavanger public library since 1995. The festival is now one of the largest and best known of its kind in Scandinavia. One of Kapittel’s primary objectives is to thematize human rights issues and contribute to the protection of the freedom of expression of writers.

Over a hundred events – talks, concerts, shows – are staged during the five intense festival days: September 20-24 th.

Former guests at Kapittel include, to name a few,  Siri Hustvedt, Nadine Gordimer, Yu Hua, Jacques Derrida, Sophie Calle, Karl Ove Knausgård, Teju Cole, Svetlana Alexievitch and Wole Soyinka.

Ticket sale:

The sale of the festival pass starts on May 15th.

Price: Ordinary: 1400 kr, Student / Aftenbladkort: 1000 kr (15th May - 31st of August).

Festival pass can only be purchased online until the festival. During the festival week it´s also possible to buy tickets and festival passes at the Informationdesk on the 1st floor. Festival pass purchased online is exchanged into festival bands during the festivalweek at, Sølvberget, Stavanger Culture House. Limited number of passes for sale.

Festival Pass: It's always worth buying a festival pass. The festival pass gives you access to all events during the festival. Those with festival passes who want to guarantee themselves to enter their favorite events can reserve a seat for a ticket fee (usually 20 kr). You do not have to reserve, but then the usual reservation for full house applies.

 Program an events are continuously posted on our website. From August 20th, the full program and ticket sales will be available.
